Movie Review Monday

Faith Like Potatoes

Faith Like Potatoes is a true story of a South African Farmer named Angus Buchan. The story starts out slow but picks up after Angus accepts Jesus at a moment of crisis and begins experiencing miracles, ranging from sudden rain putting out a wildfire to reviving a woman struck by lightning. The movie follows Angus from being a small South African farmer into an evangelist. We see how the Lord slowly changes him from a quick-tempered man into a man who finds peace with himself and a purpose for his life. I enjoyed watching the relationships develop between this family with those in the Zulu tribe.

I love true stories and because of this I could appreciate and enjoy this film. It took the first 20 minutes or so for me to get into the movie, and that’s always hard, but I feel it was worth the wait. It was an inspiring, enjoyable film with a few harsh realities and solemn moments.

I give this movie an A for family friendliness and a B for entertainment value.

If you have seen this film, what are your thoughts?
